Course description

   In this class we will hold joint meetings in major art institutions operating in Israel in order to analyze art exhibitions. The meetings will be held once in every two weeks for four hours, in a different showroom (detailed list will be announced at our first meeting), for the purpose of joint discussions on the significant of encounter with work of art as part of an exhibition, along with analysis of the exhibition as a whole. Special emphasis will be placed on understanding the historical and social processes which shaped and constituted the current modes of viewing art, as well as curatorial practices. In addition, we will try to explore the implications and impacts of these artistic institutions on the discipline of art history.
