This course is an investigation of the intellectual foundations of the discipline of Art History and
a presentation to its working methods. Crossing histories and geographies we will learn the
praxis of visual analysis, the problems of style, iconography, collections and museology, and the
application of theoretical approaches rooted in psychoanalysis, semiotics, gender studies,
sociology, philosophy, queer studies and deconstruction in the practice of art critique.
