Course description

“The pen is the tongue of the soul”, as stated by Cervantes, the well-known Spanish author, expresses the importance of dominating the art of writing, for laymen as well as scholars. Original as may be our ideas and research, if we are not able to articulate ourselves clearly, and in a concise and communicative way, we are in-fact tongueless.

In a series of workshops, we will delve into, understand and practice the foundation of academic writing; to organize the line of argumentation and finally to write it in a coherent and comprehensible way, without foregoing individuality and personal style. Time will be also dedicated to the reading of articles, which will serve as guides to both academic reading and writing. We will also study the rules of academic quotation and references, essential for any academic discussion. The course’s format of a workshop includes the presentation of short papers and assignments.
