Course description
In this course, we will invite teachers-educators to a dialogue that is willing to examine the humanist worldview in the context of Israeli identity. The premise is that the role of school is not limited only to teaching but also to educating, and that teaching is an integral part of the educational act. From here we will deepen investigation into the power of dialogue, according to Martin Buber focusing on two main divisions-tensions in Israeli society. The first, the particular, known as religious-secular, requires the examination of the tension of the traditional Jewish identity and writings in modern times. The second, the universal, known as the Arab-Jewish and identified with the liberal-democratic discourse, requires the examination of the tensions between national and cultural narratives and differences in Israel.
