Course description

The most important element in teaching, obvious, but often hidden from view, are humans. Therefore, the field of psychology, which focuses on the study of the mind, is in great interface with the field of learning and teaching. In this course, after a brief introduction and general familiarity with the different areas of psychology, we will focus on cognitive psychology, and examine its implications for learning and teaching. As we shall see in the course, teaching (whether at the level of content and whether at the level of values) involves human memory. Therefore, a thorough understanding of memory will greatly contribute to the work of the teacher. To complete the understanding of the cognitive processes we will first understand the processes of attention and perception which form the basis and are closely linked to the processes of memory.

During the lessons we will emphasize theoretical material application in teaching and learning.

The course includes lectures and reading of theoretical material, as well as experiences and discussions in the classroom and beyond.
