Course description
Political Theology
This seminar will deal with a range of concerns regarding the legitimacy of the political and the role of religion in ensuring it.
Is a 'secular' state possible? Must theology necessarily entail a politics? Beyond the presentation of the problem itself the seminar will propose a communitarian perspective that could help navigate the practical options of a civil society facing such legitimacy anxiety.
Our discussion will touch upon the breadth of literature on political theology in the past century and will focus upon my own recent work in the field.
