Course description
Mystical poetry in Judaism
Poetry and mysticism are intimately linked from the early phases of Jewish mysticism. Mystical poems were used to not only express mystical experiences and content but also as a mystical device. The course will examine a line of classic mystical poems spanning from ancient Jewish mysticism, through Ashkenaz and Zoharic poems including 16th century mystical poems written by the H"ari and several of his students in the holy land
