Course description

The Seminar will examine the apocalypse from a literary and theoretical point of view. Attending the general collapse that is written from the point of view of the survivor, or the °last man° is a complex literary form that is present from antiquity to the present. During the seminar we will examine the writing of the end and its aesthetics as well as the relations between utopia and dystopia and apocalypse as well as novelties of “after the apocalypse”. Theory will be accompanied by a reading of the classics of the form in literature and visual culture observing the nightmares of the end and the anxieties of the present in works from George Orwell to Amos Keinan and other contemporaries.
