We will discuss the shift from Comparative Literature to World Literature, the developments in postcolonial theory and the critique of secularism, contemporary queer theory and affect theory. The course will present each theoretical trajectory, the scholarly motivations behind it, and the ways in which it might change the procedures of literary reading. Together with theoretical writings we will also read literary texts
