This course will shed light on the early writings of the prominent Israeli poets Lea Goldberg, Yehuda Amichai and Dahlia Ravikovitch by exploring their self-fashioning and the ways they shaped their literary persona. By focusing on their path to the canon, we'll reconstruct their "Roads Not Taken" in life and literature, as well as the contemporary norms of the young Israeli "Republic of Letters".
The course's requirements: students are expected to do the required reading and to attend class. There will be a take–home essay exam at the end of the semester.
