This class offers a new direction in understanding the idea of Western Culture and literature, based on readership of counter-movements and turn-points, founded by Eastern traditions, from Ancient time to early modern periods. Reading the Homer Epic with Gilgamesh, the Greek tragedy with the Eastern lamentations, Augustin against the African self, Dante with Koran, Goethe with Hafez, are a few of milestones of this readership.
Requirements: Attendance, Final-essay assignment.
