The course focuses on masterpieces of Hebrew Literature from the middle ages. We will get to know the cultural surroundings and poetical achievements of poets such as Ibn-Gabirol, Yehudah Halevi, Immanu'el Haromi, and many others. While reading these pieces of poetry and prose we will also get to know the main features of medieval poetics, and the challenge it provides for our understanding of reality, the artistic act, and the human dialogue with God and other humans.
