An introductory course to poetry, providing rudimentary reading skills for understanding and interpretating poetic texts. What is poetry and what separates it from other texts? What kind of world does poetry depict? How does the communication act occur in it? Why do poems make use of images, metaphors, repetitions, short lines etc.? What do poems expect from us? Should we respond to them and how?
The requirements: actively participating in class; An oral exam, writing two short paper during the semeter, writing a final exam at the end of the semester.
