Course description

 

The Yishuv and the Arab Revolt, 1936-1939

The course objective is to outline in detail the contours of the conflict between the three partners in the Palestine Triangle – British, Arabs and Jews – during the Arab Revolt. We will analyze the differences on issues such as “Self Restraint or Reaction”, the political nature of the violent reality that prevailed in Palestine and the Peel Commission Report. Discussions will be based on an analysis of protocols, documents and newspapers of the period. At the center of study will be the dilemma of using force as a mean to calm and promote political goals.

Course duties: participation, exam.
