The Jews in America: History, Society and Culture, 1654 – 2018 (in English)
This class will use lectures, reading materials and primary sources to examine the history, society and culture of Jews in the United States from the earliest communities to the present day. In addition to discussion on social, religious and cultural developments among Jews, the course will also highlight points of intersection between Jewish and American cultures, the experience of Jews in relations to other minority groups and other questions.
Requirements: Active participation (including regular attendance), reading assignments, final paper.
