The course will provide an up-to-date, comprehensive introduction to the history, culture, religion and archaeology of Anatolia in the second millennium BCE. Special attention will be given to the Hittite Kingdom. This Anatolian based Empire reached its political peak in the 14 Century BC onwards and became a supreme player in the political balance of powers of the Ancient Near East in the Late Bronze Age.
