Course description

This course will be held in Hebrew, based upon recent Hebrew translations of the masterpieces of French Literature from the Middle- Ages to the French Revolution (1789). The course will give a comprehensive presentation of the historical, ideological and social contexts that produced those masterpieces. We’ll also explain their contribution to Modern French culture, pointing at the values they express as well as at their still relevant message until now. We’ll start by explaining the notion of “canon” which helped to define the list of the masterpieces studied in this course..
