Michal Heiman is an Israeli conceptual artist, theoretician, and creator of the Michal Heiman Tests. Her work, is often based on extensive research, reveals alternative thematic, aesthetic and theoretical matrices between art and the field of psychoanalysis, photography and diagnosis. The workshop will study works of both Israeli and non-Israeli artists, mostly in the field of photography and video, with a particular emphasis on political and gender discourses, intertextuality, ethical dilemmas, problems of representation and more.
Course requirements: Full and active participation, reading and writing assignments throughout the semester and a submission of a final paper.
