The academic research of economics and management is rich with polemics that stimulates scholars and contributes to the development of knowledge concerning these important areas of human life. In this course, we will analyze selected polemics with different methodologies from the field of the study of controversies. We will present Marcelo Dascal's typology of polemics that distinguishes between Dispute, Controversy and Discussion, learn about rhetorical elements that serve the opponents, and identify principles of communication that shape the pragmatic form of polemical dialogues.
