Stories for children create not only imaginary plots of childhood but places and spaces of it as well. We shall read some Israeli childhood stories, starting with stories from before the establishment of the State of Israel and ending with late 20th century texts, and try to outline the changing "geography of childhood" in the Israeli context. The theoretical basis for discussing literary spaces will include, among others, the writings of M. Bakhtin, W. Benjamin and S. Freud.
