Course description

What has gender to do with knowledge production and its application? How has the complex entanglement of gender and knowledge been evolved through time? Has gender influenced our scientific theories or, simply and merely, our scientific practices? This seminar explores answers to these questions through a series of thematic readings grouped into two large categories: gender in the history of science and feminist epistemology.

The course is designed to assist students to comprehend a) the historical role of gender in the construction of scientific knowledge and b) the current importance of gender to the science and technology as sources of sustainable development expressed recently through the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, part of the United States 2030 Agenda for a Global Sustainable Development.
