The course delivered in Arabic will explore major Palestinian works in translation between Hebrew and Arabic both by approaching the role the Palestinian translator-agent (Mahmoud Abassi, Anton Shammas, Salman Natour and Mohamed Hamza-Ghanayim) since the 1960s and by identifying the transformation that the Arabic-Palestinian text can undergo in the very act of translation. We will read and examine literary Hebrew texts of Sayed Kashua, Naim Araidi and Nidaa Khoury translated in Arabic in tandem with works written in Arabic by Emile Habibi, Taha Mohammed Ali, Salman Natour, Mahmoud Darwich and Rashed Hussein.
