Foundations of Formal Semantics
Dr. Nirit Kadmon
Course prerequisites (if any): Introduction to Semantics
Course Description
This is the first in a group of courses which aim to achieve in-depth familiarity with formal semantics of natural language and develop the student's ability to do independent research in this area. The course combines (a) acquiring basic formal tools necessary for work in semantics, and (b) discussing a number of central issues in the semantics of natural language. Hence the course will be rather technical in nature, dealing with different logical languages and their model theoretic semantics, but will also be concerned with the empirical side and the linguistic motivation for formal developments.
Course Requirements:

final assignment (serving as a take-home exam) - 70% of the final grade
