Course description
The human body is a site of much interest from all angles: from the individual up to the community and the state authorities. This seminar studies the ways Muslim societies regulated the body, nurtured it, ruined it, and imagined it. Among the topics to be studied: sexuality and reproduction, cleanliness and hygiene, age, sickness and disability, the individual and the state, and death.
