Course description

This course will deal with the history and historiography of the Arab-Israeli conflict from the advent of Zionism to the present. It will discuss the origins of Zionism and the evolution of theArab position towards the movement, the Arab-Israeli wars and the peace negotiations and treaties between Israel, Egypt and Jordan. The course will similarly discuss the failure to reach peace between Israel and Syria or between Israel and the Palestinian national movement and will explore the various explanations for these failures, particularly in light of new historical research.
