Course description
In this course we will discuss several cases of the history of the body, its representations and its conceptualizations in late medieval west European society. Among the topics discussed: body and gender, the king’s body, the miraculous body, divine bodies, pain and torture. This topics will reveal the various uses of the images of the body, and of the body itself for the organization of society.
