Course description
The course will focus on realizing Confucian humanistic ideas in community work.
The course will focus on Confucian self-realization, in particular with regard to the presupposition that a human being is by definition - 'relational.' Hence, self realization is realizing oneself as morally related to others.
From the theoretical perspective, we will inquire the unique nature of Confucian humanism of Way (Dao) as alternative to the humanism of the age of Enlightenment. We will focus on four themes: human nature; education, dialogue and responsibility; the ethic of feelings; the subject and the possibility for self-realization.
From the practical perspective every participant in the course is demanded to choose one of three community projects.

Requirements: Active participation; field work reports; final paper
