Biblical Aramaic
The Aramaic Language was in direct and continuous contact with the Hebrew Language from the end of the First Temple period until the Arab conquest. In this course we will learn the Biblical Aramaic (in the books of Ezra and Daniel). We will study the Biblical Aramaic phonology, morphology, syntax and vocabulary, and read the Biblical texts written in Aramaic. In addition, we will deal with Non-Biblical Aramaic sources that are close to Biblical Aramaic in their time and read some of them.
