Elementary Hebrew Syntax
In this course we shall learn the foundations of the traditional syntactic analysis of written Hebrew, from the level of the individual word and syntactic phrase to the level of the sentence. We shall identify the most common types of sentence – the simple verbal and non-verbal sentence, co-ordination, casus pendens and the complex sentence, as well as verb complements and adjuncts – and learn their accepted syntactic analysis. Final assignment: exam in traditional syntactic analysis.
