Course description
The course will focus on social and economic policies from a gender perspective and assess their implications on women and men in both the private and public spheres. The Theoretical framework will focus on the contribution of women to the economy as well as on the implications of national budgets and government decisions and programs on women’s’ lives and wellbeing. Our studies will include a gender analysis of issues such as the labor market, national budgets, privatization, taxation, wage gaps etc. In addition to the academic classes, training sessions will be held on topics such as women and social security, poverty and gender, financial education and extraction of rights as preparation for field work.
Requirements of the seminar:
The course is unique and combines academic classes with social activities. The first Semester will include academic classes along with practical training, as ground for field work. Social activities will take place in the second semester and will consist of about 20 hours of instruction of two workshops for the community (each workshop includes 4 sessions) on "Financial Education and full understanding of financial rights". The workshops location, contents and number of participants will be determined and communicated at the second semester.
• These activities will be accompanied by group sessions that will be held every two weeks until the end of the semester.
• Presence in classes, training sessions, and workshops is mandatory.
