Preliminary Definition of Air Vehicle
The course contains theory of aircraft preliminary design in conjunction with practical examples. Theory will include the development process, starting with requirements definition, through planform design, aerodynamic design, propulsion systems, stability and control, aircraft missions, performance, reliability and operational aspects. We will learn about weight estimation and how to control weight during the development. Some examples of aircraft systems will be discussed together with preliminary reliability analysis. We will also perform preliminary estimation of aircraft development and production cost.
Throughout the course, students are practicing with realistic examples.
During the second part of the course , the students (divided into groups) will conduct a final project in which they shall practice aircraft preliminary design.
