Prerequisites: Introduction to Theory of Elasticity (Concurrent); or Mechanics of Solids (2)
Topics: Finite Element Method in modern design; Basic concepts; Formulation of Finite Element Equations, global and local points of view; Direct stiffness method FE modeling –meshing, element connections, constraints; Postprocessing – interpretation of FE results, accuracy, convergence; Linear interpolation, isoparametric elements, element matrices; Computer implementations, data processing arrays; Using Finite Element Software (ANSYS, NASTRAN); Applications- structures, torsion, elasticity.
