Course description
Introduction to Environmental Engineering is intended to teach the fundamental concepts in environmental engineering dealing with water, wastewater, air, land pollution, solid waste disposal; to present case-studies such as soil and groundwater remediation; and briefly discuss other areas such as ecology, toxicology, environmental economics, toxic chemical releases, and environmental topics that are regularly "in the news". This course aims at integrating scientific and engineering principles applied to improve the environment, to develop environmental awareness with emphasis on the effects of human activities and technological advances on the environment. In this course we will study various aspects of environmental engineering including basic scientific and engineering concepts by applying quantitative engineering tools to analyze and interpret data for design of treatment systems.
