Course description
Credit points: 3.5
Prerequisites: Fluid Mechanics (1)
Mechanisms of contaminant transport in water and atmospheric flows: molecular diffusion, advection, dispersion by velocity fluctuations. Processes of radioactive decay and sorption.
Equation of transport and simple solutions: instantaneous and continuous point source, line source, influence of boundaries.
Applications: Transport in the atmosphere, plumes mixing in the sea and in reservoirs, transport by groundwater and in the unsaturated zone of the soil.
