Course description
Credit Points: 3.5
Prerequisite: Wave Transmission & Lines.
1. Review of the principles of the electromagnetic theory. Reciprocity theorem, equivalence principle and Huygens sources, theory of radiation, the far field concept, elementary radiators.
2. Parameters of transmitting antennas. The receiving antenna, the antenna in transmit - receive systems.
3. Radiation from impressed sources: line sources. Wire antennas, Yagi-Uda antennas, methods for feeding wire antennas.
4. Aperture antennas, horn and reflector antennas.
5. Introduction to antenna arrays: Aperture sampling, linear array factor, linear array grating lobes, element patterns, coupling and active impedance, principle of pattern multiplication. Scanning methods, feeding networks. Introduction to array synthesis, Chebychev-Dolph arrays.
6. Microstrip antennas and arrays.
