Vision research (history, experimental tools in vision research- electrophysiology, fMRI, EEG, psychophysics, computational models). Introduction: action potential, synapses, transformation of light to electrical signal, retina structure, retinal and cortical receptive fields, receptive fields as computational masks, visual cortical pathways, radiometry and colorimetry , color spaces: CIE RGB, CIE XYZ (how they have been built, based on what principles), perceptual color spaces: HSV, LMS, CIE Luv, CIE Lab, adaptation mechanisms (gain control) in the retina and in the cortex to intensity, color and the temporal components; color constancy, high dynamic range compression, induction of the first and second orders - reflecting mechanisms for enhancing intensity and textures contrasts, depth coding, direction and velocity coding-effects and computational modeling, image and video transform coding, visual attention.
