The course will focus on Probablistic Galois Theory. Two main questions will motivate the course. Given a random polynomial with integer coefficients: Is the polynomial irreducible with high probability? What is the typical Galois group?
The attack on these questions necessitates tools from a diverse range of topics, such as, finite group theory, algebraic number theory, analytic number theory, arithmetic over finite fields, probability and analysis.
