Course description
The course will discuss statistical methods and other considerations in management and analysis of modern "big data", including:
1. Privacy preservation: methods and criteria for sharing data while preserving privacy
2. Statistical testing methodologies for large public/shared databases
3. Extraction of data for analysis from complex big data repositories: modeling competitions and real-life projects
4. Computational issues in applying statistical methods to big data
5. Complex modeling problems in big data and algorithms for addressing them
Required background: undergraduate level control of mathematics, probability and statistics
