Emergence of functional areas in the city
In light of the importance of the built environment’s properties for the function of cities in many domains (e.g. society, economy, transportation and environmental quality), this course deals with the relationship between the properties of the urban environment and the formation of social and functional areas. These issues are central in the current planning discourse. The aim of the course is to implement knowledge and spatial analysis methods in this respect. The planning project will be conducted in Neve Sha’anan neighbourhood in Tel Aviv with focus on the relation between social segregation, public spaces and urban morphology at different urban scales.
