Course description

This is a second year undergraduate course that deals with the Physics of the Atmosphere.  There are three parts to this course: Cloud microphysics, cloud electrification and radiative transfer.

The Cloud Physics covers topics related to radiation balance and the importance of clouds in climate; the ingredients needed to produce clouds; warm and cold clouds; rainfall production.

The Atmospheric Electricity part covers: cloud electrification; lightning generation, sprites, radio observations of lightning, and the global atmospheric electric circuit.

The Radiative Transfer section covers basic physical quantities, the general radiation laws, the equation of radiative transfer and atmospheric optical phenomenon.
