מטרת הקורס היא לחשוף בפני התלמידים את המגוון הרחב של אופני החשיבה, הפרשנות והמתודולוגיה של תחום המחקר המוזיקולוגי. השאיפה היא לפתח הקשבה רגישה, ליצור שיח מקורי ולעודד מחקר וכתיבה ביקורתיים ויצירתיים אודות מוזיקה. תחום המוזיקולוגיה משתנה במהירות, הקורס יפרוש מדגם מייצג של תתי התחומים המסורתיים והחדשים על המתודולגיות החדשות שלהם, על נקודות המוצא השונות ומגוון התובנות שהם מציעים. על כל היבטיה, המוזיקולוגיה תרה אחר תובנות משמעותיות, מקוריות ומרתקות.
The aim of the course is to expose students to the range of modes of thought and methodologies within the ever-changing field of musicology. We will explore sub-disciplines of musicology, both old and new, as they offer new ways of understanding and perceiving music.

2. רפרט בע"פ בסיום כל סמסטר. על הסטודנטים לבחור יצירה, חלק מתוך יצירה או אספקט שלה ולדון בה (לפרש/לנתח/להסביר/לקשר) דרך שני תחומי מחקר מוזיקולוגיים (למשל תרבותי, הסטורי). על הדיון להסתמך על מחקרים אקדמיים.
יש לקבל מהמרצה אישור מראש על היצירה והחומר המחקרי
