Course description

This course is obligatory for second year students towards their master's degree (track without thesis). The aim of the course is to understand more deeply the works that are to be performed at the final recitals and to prepare the students towards the oral examination at the end of the year.

The course will deal with an analytic study of the pieces and movements included in their repertory this year. General issues of historical background, style and genre will serve as a starting point to the analytic discussion, which will focus on form, rhythm, harmony, melody, motivic design, tonality, atonality and other relevant aspects of the selected pieces.

Requirements

Regular attendance and submission of written assignments, active class participation

Final assignment

Written paper. The final analytic paper will be written on a chosen piece.

Grades

50% - final paper; 50% - active class participation and submission of written assignments

The final oral examination will be graded separately from the course

Bibliography

The sounds and scores of the pieces will serve as the course’s textbook.

Further bibliography will be given during the course.

The students are obliged to mail the list of the pieces by the first lesson.

Expected learning outcome

The course is supposed to enhance students’ understanding of musical structures and compositional means by which these structures are created and articulated.

תאור ומטרת הקורס

קורס חובה לתלמידי שנה ב' בתואר שני (במסלול ללא תזה). מטרת הקורס היא להעמיק את הידע וההבנה ביצירות שינוגנו ברסיטלי הסיום ולהכין את הסטודנטים לבחינת גמר בע"פ בסוף שנת הלימודים.

במסגרת הדיון בכל יצירה או פרק שנלמד, נעסוק גם בהיבטים אסתטיים, סגנוניים וז'אנריים כלליים, אך נתמקד בעיקר באנליזה, תוך שימוש בכלים וגישות אנליטיות המתאימים ליצירות ולפרקים הנלמדים. בין הסוגיות שיידונו: מבנה וצורה, ארגון ריתמי, מלודי והרמוני, התפתחות מוטיבית, טונאליות (מסורתית ומורחבת) , אטונאליות והקשרים חוץ-מוזיקאליים.

נוכחות והשתתפות פעילה, הגשת מטלות שוטפות בכתב

מטלת סוף קורס

עבודה בכתב בסוף השנה

מרכיבי הציון

50% - השתתפות פעילה בשיעורים והגשת מטלות בכתב, 50% - עבודה מסכמת.

ביבליוגרפיה

הפרטיטורות של היצירות הנלמדות ישמשו כ"טקסטבוק".

ביבליוגרפיה נוספת תינתן במהלך הקורס.

על הסטודנטים לשלוח במייל רשימה היצירות שתבוצענה ברסיטל הסיום עד השיעור הראשון.
