The History of the Hebrew Language II: Guided reading

In this course we shall learn about the periods of classical Hebrew and their main linguistic characteristics through textual readings from the Bible to the Mishna: Classical Hebrew Hebrew, inscriptions from the monarch period, Late Biblical Hebrew, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Bar Kokhba letters and the Mishna. We shall learn about biblical verb system and the development of matres lectionis in Hebrew orthography. Final assignment: an exam (multiple choice).
