השיעור מביא לדיון פיגורות יסוד מן הספרות וההגות הגרמנית סביב שנת 1900 ודן בסוגיות המודרניזם: תודעת המשבר, מחדלי השפה, הפרגמנט, השיטוט, המיתוס והאל-החדש. במסגרת זו נשוב לקרוא בפרידריך ניטשה, ריכרד ואגנר, תומס מאן, שטפן גאורגה, הוגו פון הופמנשטל, רילקה, אלזה לסקר–שילר, גאורג טרקל, ברטולט ברכט, פרנץ קפקא וולטר בנימין.
Course description
The lectures deal with key-figures of German poetry and thought around 1900 and discuss the question of Modernism: the thought-in-crisis, the collapse of language, the values of the fragments and strolling, the return of the myth and the appearance of a new Goddess. In this framework we return to read Nietzsche, Wagner, Thomas Mann, Stefan George, Hugo von Hofmenstahl, Rilke, Lasker-Schueller, Trakel, Brecht, Kafka and Benjamin.
