CURRENT SYNTAX 2 

MA course 

The goal of the course is to expand knowledge of syntactic phenomena and theory, and further elaborate a comprehensive view of syntax and the architecture of Grammar. Together with Current Syntax 1, this course provides a solid, broad foundation for undertaking original research in syntax. In the course we cover various central domains of syntactic theory and discuss current models of Grammar. The course presents major empirical phenomena and their proposed analyses, such as ellipsis constructions, types of relative clauses, focus constructions, quantifier scope, reconstruction phenomena, preposition stranding, and parasitic gap constructions.

Course requirement: active class participation, possible homework assignments, and a final take-home assignment
