כיצד ראו חז"ל את היחס בין גברים ונשים? מה היה להם לומר על 'האשה'? באיזה אופן תפסו את הפער בינם לבין העולם הנוכרי שסביבם? והאם ראו בחיוב את האפשרות לגשר על הפער הזה? סוגיות התלמוד הבבלי לפרק השישי של מסכת יבמות יוצאות מתוך פרשנות למשנה, וכדרכו של התלמוד מפתחות דיון עצמאי בשלל נושאים מרתקים. הקורס יתמקד בסוגיות נרחבות העוסקות ביחסי מגדר וביחסי יהודים-נוכרים, ויבקש להצביע על האופן שבו הפרקטיקה, השיח והאידיאולוגיה החז"ליים מתעצבים סביב סוגיות אלה ועל יחסי הכוח והמתחים התרבותיים החבויים בתוכן.נוכחות חובה, מטלת סיום- עבודה.

Between men and women, Jews and gentiles in tractateYevamot
In what perspective did Chazal see the diversity between men and women? What would they say about 'the woman'? And in what way did they see the difference between themselves and the gentile world around them? The Talmudic suggiyot in Chapter VI of Bavli Yevamot suggests independent and fascinating discussions about a variety of issues. The course will focus on a broad range of issues dealing with gender relations and Jews-gentiles relations, and will seek to point out how the practice, the discourse and the ideology of Chazal were shaped through these issues and to reveal the power relations and cultural tensions concealed behind them.
