התופעות הפונולוגיות המאפיינות את תהליך רכישת שפת אם מופיעות כבר במילים הראשונות ומשפיעות על רכישת המורפולוגיה והתחביר בהמשך. בקורס זה נבחן גישות שונות לניתוח והסבר ההתפתחות הפונולוגית בהיבטים שונים, על בסיס מחקרים העוסקים בהתפתחות פונולוגית טיפוסית וא-טיפוסית:
o פרדיקציות תיאורטיות לגבי המבנים והתופעות המאפיינים את שלבי הרכישה הראשונים
o השפעת האוניברסאליות והמסומננות של מבנים על ראשית הרכישה ועל מהלך ההתפתחות הפונולוגית
o השפעת שכיחויות בשפת היעד על ראשית הרכישה ועל מהלך ההתפתחות הפונולוגית
o שונוּת (variation): מאפייני השונות ותפקידה בתהליך ההתפתחות הפונולוגית
חלקו הראשון של הקורס (סמסטר א') יוקדש להיכרות עם תופעות ומאפיינים שונים של התפתחות פונולוגית טיפוסית וא-טיפוסית, וללימוד ההנחות התיאורטיות אודות רכישת שפת אם בכלל ורכישת הפונולוגיה בפרט. בחלקו השני של הקורס (סמסטר ב'), נתעמק במחקרים בנושאים ספציפיים, כגון פישוט צרורות עיצורים, תפקיד המילה המינימאלית ברכישת שפה, השפעות פרוזודיות וסגמנטליות על השמטת הברות, השפעות פונולוגיות על הפקת מורפמות דקדוקיות.
Course description
Topics in typical and a-typical phonological development
The phonological processes involved in first language acquisition emerge during the production of the first words, and later on, they also affect the acquisition of morphology and syntax.
In this course, we will examine different approaches to the analysis and explanation of various aspects of phonological development, in typical and a-typical acquisition paths:
o Theoretical predictions regarding the common structures and phenomena during the first stages of phonological development.
o Universal grammar and its effect on the early productions and phonological development.
o Frequencies effects on early productions and phonological development.
o Variation: its patterns and its role in the course of phonological development.
The first part of the course (first semester) will be devoted to an overview of the main phenomena and properties related to typical and a-typical phonological development, and to the basic theoretical assumptions of phonological theory regarding first language acquisition. In the second part of the course (second semester), we will study in detail researches on specific topics, such as cluster simplification, the role of the Minimal Word in acquisition, and prosodic and segmental effects on syllable deletion, phonological effects on the acquisition of grammatical morphemes.
