הקורס סוקר את תרבויות המזה"ק (המסופוטמית, המצרית, האשורית, החיתית, הכנענית), במטרה לתת פרספקטיבה תרבותית והיסטורית רחבה יותר על המקרא. הספרות המקראית תיבחן בקונטקסט של שאר תרבויות וספרויות המזה"ק תוך הצבעה על ההשפעות וזיקות הגומלין המשתקפות בז'אנרים הספרותיים השונים: בפרוזה, בשירה, בחוק, בספרות החוכמה. נוכחות חובה. בסיומו של הקורס יערך מבחן.
Course description
Biblical world and other ancient Near Eastern cultures
The course reviews ancient Near Eastern cultures (Mesopotamian, Egyptian, Assyrian, Hittite and Canaanite) in order to get a wider cultural and historic perspective on the Bible. The biblical literature will be examined in the context of the other ancient Near Eastern cultures and literatures paying attention to the varied influences as reflected in different genres: prose, poetry, law, wisdom literature. At the end of the course the students will write a test.
