מנגנון ה״בדיעבד״ פותח על ידי פרויד בסוף המאה ה-19 כדי להסביר את המבנה של הטראומה: האירוע הטראומטי אינו יכול להיות מובן בזמן אמת אלא רק בדיעבד, דרך אירוע שני. אך פרויד גילה במהרה את הבעייתיות של מנגנון זה, שכן לא ניתן לדעת אם האירוע הטראומטי הראשון התקיים בפועל או רק הובנה והומצא בדיעבד. בסמינר זה נדון במנגנון ה״בדיעבד״ תוך קישורו ליצירות ספרותיות (פרוסט, דוראס) ותאורטיות (ליוטאר, דרידה, בודריאר, קארות). ננתח את האפשרויות השונות של חזרה בדיעבדית על אירועי עבר ונבדוק כיצד מנגנון ה״בדיעבד״ עשוי לענות על שאלת המקור כפי שניסח אותה הפוסט-מודרניזם.

The Afterward Time
The mechanism of afterwardness has been developed by Freud to explain the structure of trauma: a trauאatic event cannot be comprehended when it actually takes place but only retroactively through a second event. However, Freud soon discovered the problematic of this mechanism, since it is impossible to know whether the first event actually took place or was only retroactively constructed. In this seminar we will discuss the mechanism of afterwardness with the help of literature (Proust, Duras) and theory (Lyotard, Derrida, Baudrillard, Caruth). We will analyze the different forms of afterwardness and how this mechanism may tackle the question of origin formulated by post-modernism.
