הסמינר יעסוק בדמותן של אמהות בספרות העברית והישראלית ובחלוקות התפקידים בין אמהות לבנים בהקשרה של הלאומיות הציונית. נקרא יצירות העוסקות בכך, פרי עטם של יוסף חיים ברנר, משה שמיר, יהושע בר יוסף, יהודית הנדל, אורלי קסטל בלום, דוד גרוסמן וסופרים נוספים. הקריאה ביצירות תסתייע בתיאוריות פסיכואנליטיות ומגדריות וכן במחקרים סוציולוגיים. נדון גם באמהות "בשר ודם" שהפכו לאייקוניות בהקשרה של התרבות הישראלית, כמו רבקה גובר ואביבה שליט.
Course description
Mothers, Wars and Military service
The Seminar will examine mother-figures who gained iconic status in Israeli culture, such as Rivka Guber and Aviva Shalit, as well as varied representations of mother-figures in Hebrew and Israeli literature, by writers such as Yosef-Haim Brenner, Moshe Shamir, Yehoshua Bar-Yosef, Yehudit Hendel, Orly Kastel-Bloom, David Grossman and others. The division of national functions between mothers and sons in Israeli nationalism and literature will be directed by theoretical writings from different fields: psychoanalysis, gender studies and sociology.
